Description: |
Hi, I have a javascript application that needs a 'save settings' feature. The javascript is a 'generator' that invites the user to enter or select values and, when ready, it then generates the code that the user should place on his/her web page. The application is quite complex, so there are a lot of values to be entered/selected. For this reason I'd like to add some kind of 'save settings'/'load settings' feature. I don't need anything very fancy, just needs to get the job done. Perhaps a method of writing the values to a TXT file (for example) and then being able to reload those values later...? As it is, I've packaged the javascript using the ebook compiler available at www.caislabs.com I've been talking to my javascript developer about this and this is what he has said about this... " 'Save Settings' cannot be done in Javascript. I was assuming that you were using your own custom-built solution as a base for the EXE file. However, with the caislabs.com software, it is impossible to use another language as well. I investigated a bit and found that if you really really really want this done, you might be able to use Flash/Actionscript (or Director/Lingo (Flash-related)) to supplement the Javascript (and this would be compatible with the caislabs.com software). " I don't HAVE to use the caislabs.com compiler -- I don't mind which application is used to 'package' the script as long as it remains functional (some other compilers I tried messed with some aspects of the script). If you have any suggestions/solutions for this project, please let me know. Thanks, Michael Additional Info (Added 11/9/2004 at 10:22 EST)...
