Description:

The project is to create a software that will plot a column of numbers from a
bitmap. The (two-color) .bmp (or other graphic format) picture will be of a
wavy line. The software must read the wavy line, plot it, and create a data
file consisting of a single column of three-digit (whole) numbers. There will
be no decimal numbers - whole numbers only. The plotting must be automatic, not
manual (there are many freewares that offer manual plotting).
NOTE WELL: ALL bitmaps will be 256 pixels in height, so the Y-Axis will run
from 000 to 255 -the midline will be 127. The X-Axis will vary from one
picture to the next.
The pic in this posting shows a line that jumps up and down between 000 and 255.
The only numbers that will be in the column of numbers will be 000 and 255.
However, the lines in the picutes your work will be tested with will have any
and all Y-Axis values in it. The lines may be more than one pixel in thickness,
so this program must trace outside of the line - meaning that for the pixels
above the midline, the software must trace the top of the line, and for the
pixels below the midline, it must trace the bottom of the line. If this
requirement is going to add greatly to the difficulty of the programming, you
may make a lower bid on that basis, but please say as much in your response.
This is a simple app - one that performs only one function. From a 2-color
graphic to a column of numbers, based on the shape of a line.
NOTE: This app will be quick and easy for programmers who have experience with
plotting graphic images. Also note that I have posted projects that have gotten
bids of over a thousand dollars, but were completed for less than a hundred.
