Description:

We need someone to install and customize an open source Usenet indexing package
called ikbin. Details regarding requirements are below
1. VMWARE / Linux
The installation needs to be conducted on a VMWare-based virtual machine running
a recent and common version of Linux.
A base LAMP appliance is fine if necessary.
The system uses Apache / PHP and MySQL
2. Ikbin Indexing System:
Ikbin is an open source project. The installation package is attached. The
project can be found on sourceforge here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ikbin/
The system needs to be installed and configured to connect to a usenet service
provider. We will provide appropriate access.
3. Indexing Capacity Requirements
At a minimum, the system needs to be able to index at least 500 binary groups
(see this list as a starting point of groups to index:
http://www.binsearch.info/groups.php) while retaining at least 100 days of
indexed content.
Delivery of the project must include an estimate of memory, disk storage, CPU
and bandwidth requirements for the indexing system.
4. User Capacity Requirements
The site must be able to service at least 200 concurrent users at any given time
with a sub 5 second response time.
5. Usenet Provider Access
We will provide an appropriate login and password for a usenet server to
generate the indexing content.
6. Automation
The system must automatically run on a scheduled basis to keep the index
current.
7. Look and Feel
The look and feel needs to be customized as per the attached mock up jpeg. The
content should be delivered in an IFRAME from the VMWARE-based server so that it
can be integrated into the Zoonu.com site content easily.
8. Hosted Service
We will consider a hosted service if a provider is already running an ikbin or
similar Usenet indexing system.
