Description: |
Looking for a simple script that can use one Linux PC on the same network LAN to back up another Linux PC over SSH. I run Redhat Linux Enterprise 4 The script will backup the designated PC via SSH, and will archive the backup on its own drive. In the event of a hard drive crash etc, the script would be able to re-install the backup via SSH back onto the resurrected system. Some example strategies can maybe be like: rsync -v -a -e ssh 192.168.0.1:/ //RHEL4-ES/root/ Perhaps even a network boot onto a fresh harddrive and then reinstalling the backup image? Or the OS can be installed onto the new hard drive and then the restore can take place. I've used this sort of method to backup but was looking for something a little more elaborate. I know there are alot of more seasoned linux/bsd admins out there on SL =) I love hacking this stuff myself but I havent had the time. I'm looking for someone reliable and fast who is looking for many small coding projects like this. Please let me know your ideas on PMB Additional Info (Added 4/17/2006 at 23:32 EST)...
