1 - via cron, access www.somddomain.com/somefile.php - at the bottom of that file will be something like 389232983712983dkjashda987392832ed. Your script must find that, verify its there, and if it takes more than x seconds to locate the script sends me an email. I need to define the string to match, as well as the timeout interval. 2 - Reverse the process. Only alert if it DOES find the text I'm looking for or if there is a timeout. Simply done with curl, start a clock when you connect. Several other projects involving libcurl for whoever does this one well. I would really like to have this done in php. Perl developers are welcome, but as php is what I know .. I'll probablly go with a php solution unless you can really well document your code.
