Description: |
We are in the process of converting our online store to X-Cart and require programing assistance. You can see our current store which was hand coded in PHP by my son at http://www.playsetparts.com - - - CURRENT BUSINESS WORKFLOW: We sell playground parts and accessories that are provided by a number of distributors/manufacturers around the USA. Most of our orders are drop-shipped directly from these suppliers, but we also ship a limited number of items from our own warehouse. So, the process currently is: 1. Customer places order. 2. We review the order, editing it as needed. Editing is most often required due to items that can only ship via truck and for which the shipping must be hand-calculated, or for order that ship from a vendor other than our main vendor (realtime quotes are based on that vendor's zip code). 3. We process the order, sending a finalized email to the customer (if there were changes), and email or emails to the shipping suppliers. Currently, since we use Americart, or take orders via phone, the emails are (respectively), cut-and-pasted, or typed in by hand. And, since Americart only allows one "ship from" zip code, we must refigure shipping costs by hand in many cases. This has become a real problem as we continue to add suppliers. We must soon have a cart that can calculate shipping based on shipping weight and the supplier's "ship from" zip code. So, a main objective of moving to X-Cart Pro is to streamline these processes. - - - SUSPENDING ORDERS: When an order is placed it needs to be placed in a "pending" mode with editing available for all aspects of the order. It seems like X-Cart's add-on module X-AOM would handle most of this task. I think the "step-by-step" will go something like this: 1. Customer places order. 2. Email is sent to customer notifying him/her that the order is pending. This email can include the order as placed, but should indicate that the order is pending (not final). Since I do not yet know exactly how I will want this worded (and may wish to change it from time to time), I will need to know where to go to change the text of this email. 3. Email is sent to the admin email notifying the administrator of the arrival of a new (and pending) order. 4. Administrator goes to order area of admin, edits the order if needed, and finalizes the order. 5. Order finalization generates a customer email with the updated information, and vendor email(s) with their ordered item(s) and other information they require to ship the order. Since X-Cart has been around quite a while, if you have worked on other X-Cart projects you have likely created similar set-ups for other stores. As you have suggestions for the best and most flexible way to implement this feature based on that previous work, I would appreciate your advice. - - - MULTIPLE SOURCE REALTIME SHIPPING CALCULATION: The system should be able to do real-time UPS shipping calculations on an order with multiple sources (shipped from multiple zip codes). Currently we use 95% UPS for our shipping, with USPS and FedEx at about 5% total. However, this will certainly change in the future as we continue to add suppliers. So, the system should either include or allow the ability to add other shippers that enable realtime shipping calulations (USPS, FedEx, etc.). Note that some of our providers ONLY allow UPS shipping, so the shipping method(s) should be able to specified for each vendor. - - - Please provide the cost, ownership, and development time for these modifications. Additional Info (Added 11/16/2004 at 0:55 EST)... PLEASE - We invite you to bid only if you have worked with X-Cart This project is the proprietary information of .
