Description: |
We do mostly web development, but are currently in the process of proposing a small network setup for one of our clients. We are suggesting the following setup: 1. A small client/server network in the office. The clients are all Windows machines. For the server, we are proposing either FreeBSD, FC4 or CentOS for the operating system and Samba as a domain controller and file server for the local network. Hardware will be P4 1GB RAM with dual 80GB drives in a RAID 1 configuration. There will be a dedicated firewall appliance and a Cisco router (not sure of the model # on the router). 2. A dedicated remote server. This will be the company's web server. It will host a groupware application (eGroupware), provide some FTP space, and perform a few other functions that have yet to be defined. It will also run either FreeBSD, FC4 or CentOS. We are seeking bids from experienced Linux network admins to help remotely manage this network, apply regular OS patches, etc. We are willing to entertain both hourly bids and agreements that would entitle the client to a certain number of hours of support/month. For the machine that will be running on the local network, we would simply like to install the OS, get you root access, and let you take over the setup from there. As for the remote server, we will instruct the hosting company to perform a full install of the selected operating system, then have the chosen admin configure the server, install the web apps, etc. as appropriate. We will probably require a fair number of hours getting this network setup (40-60, I would guess), but would hope that the recurring charges could be rather low. Please bid based on what you really think it would take to get the job done right. Also, if you think the proposed setup is woefully inappropriate for a small office environment, please make some alternate suggestions for message board. Thanks in advance for your consideration.
