Description: |
Restore, Repair, Protech MediaWiki Installations I have 3 installations of MediaWiki running on my server. Each was somehow hit by the NeverEverNoSanity WebWorm. This web worm apparently infects a server and then overwrites php and html files. I don't think it hits the database files at all. Unfortunately, I cannot figure out how to restore my site. I tried installing a fresh copy of Mediawiki and pointing it to my database using the localsettings.php, but it was still "defaced". I am told the worm overwrote the php files as soon as I uploaded them? I need several things. I need to know where this worm is located? I am on a shared server. Is this worm on files in my shared directory or is my site being hit by files somewhere else on the server. I need someone who knows php and MySQL very well to look at my site, see where the "defaced" messages are coming from, and help restore all 3 of my mediawiki sites, and protect them from future attacks. The restore will involve first attempting to use the current database data still on the MySQL. If all else fails, I have a backup we can restore to. If you diagnose that the worm is someone else on the server then I need documented evidence to show my web host. They say it is on my site. I need someone 100% trustworthy and reliable.
