Description: |
I use the Coppermine gallery script on a site and need some help with it. Problem description: Visitors can create pictures on my site and the pictures are stored in a folder on the server. I would like these pictures to be added to the gallery automatically. However Coppermine gallery requires pictures to be manually added to the gallery by the admin. As far as I know the process of adding a picture to the gallery is basically to have a MysQL entry added into the database for each picture, with location, filename info etc. What's needed: a solution that will add pictures automatically into the gallery possible solutions: - I don't know much about Coppermine so it could very well be possible that there is a modification or setting which will automatically add files to the gallery. if however this can't be acomplished within Coppermine I would like to bypass the gallery script and have a way to enter the pictures into the MySQl database directly. I think this can be done in several ways: - the pictures that I speak of are created on-the-fly by pressing a button in a Flash movie, this activates a php script which creates and stores the picture. I suppose that somehow it should be possible to have it connect to the database and have the records entered into it. or: - a php script could be created which, on execution, would scan a specified directory for all available files and write them into the database. that way I could run a cronjob every hour or day and still have the process being semi-automatic. I have little knowledge of the gallery script and php/sql so I suppose this project could be as easy as changing a seting within Coppermine or as dificult as having a php script constructed to do the job. It could also be that there's another method to do what I need (which is to add pictures into the gallery automatically), so feel free to provide your solutions.
