website directory and adding reciprocal link checking to the directory. Here are some basic details 1. A form should be created in the admin area to create/edit sister sites. Each sister site should have url,title, description, and then be stored in a table for sister sites. 2. Links should somehow be linked to these sites to determine which links show on which sites. For example maybe having a new field in the link table called sites and storing site numbers like 1,3 to show it is visible on sites 1 and 3. 3. On the add link form on the frontend of the site it should display the sister sites not including the site the visitor is on and a check box so the visitor can add themselves to those sites as well if they choose. 4. Last thing is just making sure it all works. Indexu already has a template theme system so I can simply create new themes but it might require a small change to a few lines in the php scripts so they load the proper theme for the site for each site. #####Reciprocal Link checking####### Most features of reciprocalmanager.com To create a automated reciprocal link checking mod for Indexu directory. 1. A new checkbox field added to category table to check which categories require links to be linking back to be listed. This will need to be done so when link checker is run, sites in categories not requiring a link back wont be checked. 2. Create a link checking settings with the following: Number of checks ina row a link is found to be not linking back before being deemed not linking Send reciprocal request reminder Send a reciprocal request reminder email to partners if after a certain amount of time after adding to directory they have not linked back Check for robot directives Check for and disallow sites that prevent robots from accessing reciprocal URL through a robots.txt file or if meta NOINDEX or NOFOLLOW directives are used on the reciprocal URL(if crawl partner sites is on it will check for robot directives as well) Check link text Check to ensure that link text has not been modified on partner's reciprocal URL Check for JavaScript redirection Check to ensure that partners link URL does not employ JavaScript redirection to attempt to fool link validators 3. Link spider will need to check the links to make sure they are linking back, if they are then they remain visible, if not then a reminder email would need to be sent to the site owner to let them know they need to link back. I think having 2 new fields in the link table such as sites_add and sites_view to store which sites a link has been submitted to and which is it viewable on. So if someone adds their link to site 1 and 2 then 1,2 would be stores in sites_add , and if they are found not to be linking to site 2 then in sites_view it would only have 1 as the value so the link would only be shown on site 1.
