The Career Path of Freelance Programming Jobs

   Coppermine Additions

Bidding Time:
17/03/2006 21:21 - 24/03/2006 21:21
Budget:
N/A
Status:
Closed

Job Type:
PHP
Description:

Host 6 Domains on 1 Account

Currently running a fairly standard installation of Coppermine Photo Gallery
(http://www.jakesjokes.com/gallery)
The jokes are in a different database from the coppermine gallery, but I can
provide you with DB structure, etc. (It's pretty straightforward, I've had
several mods done already.)
In the examples given below, obviously the URLs will reflect my site, but the
concept is there.
I need the following non-standard features:
1. Video embed codes (ie - "Add this to your MySpace page" sort of thing)
Example from a non-Coppermine page:
http://www.bofunk.com/video/991/sexy_runner.html#myspacecode
2. Standalone includes (ie - "/includes/featuredvideooftheday.php") for the
front page (doing a redesign) where I can include items such as "10 latest
videos", "10 most recent pictures", "10 most popular pictures", etc. Must be
somewhat scalable, as I intend to offer audio files, screensavers, and possibly
even other humor and/or entertainment-related files as well (they'll still be
part of the Coppermine gallery, but I just wanted to make this requirement
clear)
Basically, I want to be able to set up the site's front page to be a little more
along the lines of this (not exactly, but here's the concept):
http://www.holylemon.com/
In other words, I don't want the front page to seem static. I want it to be
updated regularly, but automatically. I'll definitely need some of this to be
random ("featured video of the day" and the same for featured Pic of the day,
joke of the day, etc...)
----------------
----------------
If you can't write PHP in your sleep, you need not apply for this job.
----------------
----------------
Why do I have the rule above?
If you do not have the qualifications to do this (and do it right), do not bid.
I've had some bad experiences lately (people unable to do what they "thought"
they could do), and I simply don't have the time to deal with people who aren't
able to do the job. If I had the time to explain the difference between brackets
and curly brackets to someone, I'd be doing this job myself.
If, on the other hand, you can do this "exactly to specs", then feel free to
bid. I'm very easy to work with, and I pay quickly.
The includes (see above) need to be easily accessible, so that I can simply slap
an include statement into the new design and move them around with ease. (I use
Dreamweaver, and as such I want to be able to literally move an include from one
table cell to another to edit my layout.) I'll provide my site's file/folder
structure as needed to keep the paths working properly. (It's very simple)
"Cut-and-paste bidders" will be immediately removed from consideration and will
never ever ever (EVER!) get a job from me, so don't waste your time.
Use the PMB. I like to discuss any questions with the programmers to ensure
accurate bids.
Any bid above $100 will likely be ignored, unless you can offer a reasonable
reason for the price. (After all, this is fairly simple PHP work, based on an
popular mainstream image gallery script, for which the source code is freely
available.)

Additional Info (Added 3/18/2006 at 1:14 EST)...

To
clarify the "includes" part:
I do not need the front page created. I only need a few small PHP files with an
appropriate MySQL query to bring up the featured pictures, etc. (Database
contains pointers to the pictures (and thumbs), but files are not stored in the
database.)
Something like this:
Content of "popularvideos.php"
// Change the number below to how many videos you want to feature
$howmanypopularvideos = 5 // randomly selected
WHILE statement (or equivalent) to show the appropriate thumbnails and link each
to the appropriate page's permanenet link

Content of "vidoftheday.php"
$videooftheday = (randomly selected, but with a WHERE delimiter to indicate that
they have to come from the "videos" category... then same deal with showing and
linking the thumbnail as above)

These sorts of pages... That way, I can pick and choose (and make minor edits,
such as "how many to show") what goes where by simply adding an include in the
appropriate spot in my header file (or where ever I end up putting it)

To clarify the MySpace part:
I want to make it as simple as possible for as many people as possible to
promote the site. The MySpace thing, of course, is a good start, but I'd also
like to have it separated so that there are video embed codes that are
appropriate for different purposes.
In other words, codes to do this:
Put this video (or picture) on your website
Put this video (or picture) on your blog
Put this video (or picture) in a forum (BB code)
Put this video (or picture) on your MySpace page
Put this video (or picture) on your LiveJournal
Put this video (or picture) on your (whatever else I'm forgetting)
Send this page via AIM
Send this page via Yahoo IM
Send this page via ICQ
etc...
All of these have been done to death, I know, but I don't have time to track
down the code, and then fiddle with it to produce dynamic code based on the page
(or the content of the page)
