   Affiliate Datafeed Project

Bidding Time:
04/07/2008 15:26 - 08/08/2008 15:26
Budget:
$500-20000
Status:
Pending

Job Type:
Visual Basic, Cold Fusion, ASP, MySQL, MS SQL
Description:
Project Overview: I am seeking to create a sort of “affiliate content management
system” for affiliate datafeeds, to streamline my “affiliate-role” work (see
http://www.MarkWelch.com/affiliate-role.htm for links to some example "affiliate
page samples").

I am seeking to work with an individual or team who can help me to design and
implement this project.

You MUST read the entire PDF document (linked below) before responding. Your
response MUST refer specifically to the issues raised in the PDF document; I
will ignore all "boilerplate" responses.

The system will need to include:
- a relational database capable of managing 10-15 million product records
(probably MS SQL Server or MySQL);
- scripts to import datafeeds from many hundreds of merchants (this might be
adapted from an existing system like Datafeed Studio), AND to “clean up”
datafeeds and make text substitutions;
- a user interface to manage and edit content;
- tools to auto-generate static content pages (this might be done with WebMerge
or other existing tools);
- tools to publish ads through Google's AdWords API.

I do not expect all components to be completed in one phase. However, all phases
must be anticipated while doing work.

NOTE: I have identified the "most likely" technologies for this project (ASP/VB
or ColdFusion, MySQL or MS SQL Server) but I am flexible on which technologies I
will consider. Please read the PDF document for more explanation.

In
addition to the July 5 update to the PDF document, I've also updated the
"database field list" (linked from the PDF document) on July 7. I expect to
refine the project spec further in the next few days, but I'm aware that each
time I specify more details, I am excluding a wide range of development
strategies that might have been better, if only I'd known of a team that could
implement them.

I am disappointed that the only responses I've received through ScriptLance have
been "questionable." One person claimed experience which his prior client
denied. I had to remove two "bids" that were submitted anonymously by people who
clearly don't have any idea what the project is (they submitted bids without
asking any questions about the vaguely-defined project spec, so of course if I
"accepted" the bid there would be no clear scope of work -- I assume they would
just 'take the money and run"). I've also received a number of replies
proposing LAMP solutions with hourly fees, all from offshore development
companies in India, Indonesia, and Turkey.

I'd like to talk with developers who are seriously interested in this project,
and who have the competence and experience required. Please read the PDF, and
then contact me.

Thanks.

I
have updated my specification again, but this time the ScriptLance system won't
let me upload the file. You can view the PDF file at
