Description: |
I would like to put together a script to do the following job. A coregistration company will be sending files by FTP to a directory on a server. These files will contain data including a name and email address. Files will be sent in real time as registrations occur. They will be sent in a specific text format which can be discussed during development. We need something that will watch the directory for new files added (perhaps checking on a cron run system - or other method if you can suggest one). As the script filnds a new file, it needs to open it, extract email addressand name, and send a predetermind autoresponse by email. For record keeping, probably best to CC a copy of the mail to an admin address, or list in a mysql db perhaps - or both - open to suggestions on that - maybe just append to a log file which mail addresses were sent an email and at what time - then once per day send a copy of the log to the admin address. All sounds pretty simple to me if you know the right technology (I don't) - I am unsure if php is the right way to go or if perl or something else would be better.
