   e107 Module Development

Bidding Time:
27/05/2006 22:01 - 10/06/2006 00:00
Budget:
$300-1500
Status:
Closed

Job Type:
PHP, Website Design, Script Installation, Linux
Description:

I need a module(s) developed that will integrate seamlessly into an e107 CMS
(www.e107.org) website and that is W3C XHTML 1.1 and W3C CSS compliant,
aesthetically pleasing, and intuitive to use.
Overview:
I need a system to facilitate the exchange of textbooks amongst students from
various colleges; there’s no school-restriction (i.e. the student need not be
attending a particular school and the student could have attended multiple
schools). For example, if I’m currently enrolled in X College but transferred
from Y College, under my profile, managed by the module, I should be able to
list both colleges: X and Y Colleges; under each college (X or Y) I should be
able to list the textbooks I used at each institution. To that end, a student
should be able to list multiple colleges from a specific list provided by the
admin (see paragraph 4 under Major Details for more info) and for each college,
multiple books. In selecting a particular institution, the student should be
able to “drill down” by State and be presented with the list of institutions in
the selected State from a database; the user should be able to select multiple
schools, preferably with checkboxes.
Major Details:
The entry for each book by the user will consist of an ISBN number, the
institution where the text was used (from a dropdown menu restricted to the list
of schools in the user’s profile [refer to Overview above and paragraph 4
below]), course number of the course for which the text was used, the condition
of the text, and some optional comment the user would like to add. For each
listing, the ISBN would be verified via an external web service (amazon.com,
isbndb.com), if it doesn’t exist, the listing would be rejected.
The module(s) should allow for listed books would be browsed in a format similar
to that of PriceGrabber.com (e.g.
http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php/isbn=0071359532) with a
description of the book (culled from web services [amazon.com or isbndb.com])
displayed prominently on top with links to purchase the same item from
amazon.com and bn.com on the right side. It should also allow for a fairly
extensive search of listed books such as by school, book title, and school
geographic location amongst other things.
It should also provide for some basic user functionalities such that each user
can manage their listings (delete, update, etc), should be integrated to the PM
module (or have PM functionality) to allow for effective communication amongst
the users, and some administrative function such as delisting a specific user,
deleting a specific listing, updating/editing specific listing and other mundane
admin actions that are necessary for maintaining the module(s).
A particular important feature of the admin function would be the ability to add
and delete schools from a database and that database would serve as the list for
students to pick the colleges they’ve attended or are attending (refer to
Overview above). Pertinent information for listing schools would include name,
city, state, and zip code. The database should be pre-populated with info from
http://www.utexas.edu/world/univ/state/.
