Help me start Tomcat with Red5 (PHP, Java, XML, Linux, J2EE)

Description:	i'm having trouble starting tomcat 5.5 and need someone's assistance. Cpanel says it's running yet ps -e \| grep tomcat returns nothing, I get a 404 error here: http://216.83.111.31:8080 and whereis java returns nothing. This all happened out of nowhere. I'm trying to get red5 to run again. I really don't want to have to restart my machine as it is a production server. i also want to use this as a learning experience so if it happens again I'll know what to do.
