Job Type:
Graphic Design
Description:

This job involves creating the overall graphic look of a new web site.

The site will be similar in operation to
http://www.kodakgallery.com/Welcome.jsp. My client is thinking of aiming this
site towards wedding couples (although we don't want a wedding theme) where the
bride and groom can open up an account on the site, then have friends (the
couple will list the friends that have access) upload their photos from the
ceremony. The wedding couple would be able to see all photos from their friends
but friends would only be able to see photos they upload themselves. Once the
couple prune (delete unwanted) photos, they can "unlock" all friend's folders so
the friends can view all photos. Friends can also have the option of creating
and purchasing a CD with all the photos, or only certain photos. The key to this
site will be that people can order prints of the photos or a CD of the whole
album and request to have the photos edited (remove a person in the photo,
remove a T-shirt slogan, etc.) during the ordering process.

As for my client's likes in site graphic design, he wants to start with a white
background and keep the site very clean and uncluttered, as well as flexible, so
it fills the screen width. I currently have the beginning of the site, in
skeletal form, available to view at
http://www.stevegreenstein.com/parag/index.asp and he has approved the look so
far.

What we need now is the rest of the graphics.

My client has mentioned the following items to let me know what he's looking
for:

On the http://www.cafepress.com/cp/info/ web site, he likes:

1. the horizontal navigation bar at the top
2. the two graphic boxes with photos in the middle of the page, although he is
thinking 3 boxes (create account/upload photos, manage your account/guest photo
upload and add photos to a friend's account - see

http://www.stevegreenstein.com/parag/index.asp for layout)
3. the Your Account | Sign In options on the top right of the page and the
About Us, etc. options on the bottom of the page.
4. Also, once you get past the front page, besides the horizontal top
navigation bar, he might go for a left-hand
vertical navigation bar for that content section's areas.

The other site he likes is http://www.geico.com/, again for its clean, white
look and the Kodak site mentioned above. I think the best site to model a site
design on is the cafepress site.

My client is kind of fussy and I expect him to pick apart a mockup and rework
it until he's satisfied. I know you don't want to go through several mockup
versions without being paid for your work, so please explain your policies for
this kind of job and also your overall cost for the work.
