Description: |
Businesses need signage. Business people don’t have the time to design, layout, measure and assemble signs prior to placing the order. signDESIGNER will solve this problem by having an intuitive online application that not only helps design the sign, but also keeps a running tab of what it will cost as well as its dimensions. This application will effectively clone the application found here: http://www.signletters.com/signdesigner/ but will also have a “database” of part numbers, prices and specifications that will be used to continuously update the price and dimensions that will be shown. One font and color will be used. There are three different sizes of letters, (SM, MED, LG) that can be used. When designed, the letters are mounted on 2 or 4-foot mounting brackets, so as users type in additional letters, the mounting brackets will need to update their length, or users will need to change the size of letters/reduce text. For example, let’s say a user wants a sign that says: “OPEN FOR BUSINESS” If they use the large letters, it might require a 4 and 2-foot bracket. As they type, they should see graphical representations of this happening on the screen, so if they wanted, they could reduce the letter size to small and fit it all on one bracket. Or use OPEN in large on a 2-foot and FOR BUSINESS on a separate 4-foot bracket. When finished, there will be an order/print button that generates a PDF that not only contains an image of the sign with the user’s layout, but also a price and parts list that displays a complete parts list. All letters have a part number associated with them (example: Asm, Amed, Alg) that will be listed, as well as the part numbers for the needed brackets and mounting hardware. Last, there will also be generated a full-size pdf of the actual sign that can be used as a mounting template, so letters are not spaced unevenly, etc. NOTES On some letters, kerning will need to be addressed. For example, the letter “T” will be closer to the letter “L” than it would be to the letter “H”, so there would need to be some level of actionscripting that would need to be applied to the letters themselves. In the future, additional fonts might need to be added, so we may want to investigate a possible solution for this. Please contact me at xxx {at} xxx.xx for more details.
