COMPREHEND THIS PROJECT WHEN PMB. PMB ME OUTLINING HOW YOU PROPOSE TO CREATE SOLUTION !!! Automatic Keyword Phrase Text Linking Solution We have websites running IIS with ASP & ASP.NET applications. I need to create a solution that will allow us to automatically link keyword text phrases found within our dynamic web pages. I’m not sure how we can do this automatically, and what is best for resources, but I am thinking either an ISAPI filter (best solution if possible and resources permit) or a com object to accept text strings and output the result with the automatic keyword phrase links if found. We cannot use java script, this must be a server side solution so that search engines can read the links. Database keyword phrase table contains phrases defined with links to the appropriate link on our glossary page. (If involving a database causes resource problems unnecessarily--we dont need a database, config file is fine, our keyword link list is expected to be between 200-500 phrases) Phrase – Link – Max# “dvd player” - /glossary.asp#dvd player - 7 “aspect ratio” - /glossary.asp#aspect ratio - 5 “home theatre systems” - /shop/category.asp?category=hometheatresys - 5 “Plasma TV” - /glossary.asp#plasma tv - 5 In addition to this functionality we need to control the frequency that these keyword phrases are linked. There will be keywords that we want to be linked every time they appear, regardless of how many times. There are keywords that we only want to be linked a maximum of twice per page and have a distance of at least 100 characters from one other. Such function options we need are: • Link All Keywords (No Max) • Link Max Fixed # of Keywords – (if the keyword exists more than the specified # of times apply the links to the instances the furthest character difference from each other (or by averaged equal distance if more than twice); keywords must be found more than defined# characters apart to be considered. If using com object, we need to build some logic to take into consideration that multiple text blocks are being parased on this page so they are considered for the Max Keyword count quotas. (when using com object implementation: If we are calling the object 5 times, we don’t want 5 x 5 (25) max links: just 5 links max) We should be able to define a Global setting for each keyword controlling the max # of links to be applied as well as setup a defined override max # that can be applied as a parameter of the com object/function or by current page name/path. (if we decide not to utilize a datbase of course this comment is uncessary as keyword phrase / link list will be loaded every instance) For example, in the database for keyword phrase “dvd player” we define max # to 5, but when using this on our home page where there are lots of other text links we only want to link the keyword once if found. Function(textstring,dvd player,1) or something similar. We will be using this solution on pretty much every page of our website where large blocks of text appear which includes product descriptions, articles, reviews, etc. So this needs to be flexible and able to be for the most part independant of any environment besides windows iis or asp.
