I am not sure how they do it but they pull it off very smoothly with seamless chatting. I need something that clones that chat client with server side enabled. For example, I would like the chat rooms and the users to load from some tables in a database. I would also like to keep a transaction log of each chat room in the database. Needless to say, it should as have role management capabilities. Similar to IRC chat rooms, there should be admins, moderators and normal users. Personally, I prefer platform independent software, especially for client-side programming. I do not want the users to download any additional plug-ins than what most users have. Therefore, I believe flash is the way to go, since most people on the internet have flash anyway. However, I want not want the chat interface to be flash. The other way around this is via AJAX. However, I have yet to see an AJAX chat client that is as seamless as this one. Again, I like the use of standard HTML controls. For server-side, the technology should also be platform independent. In other words, the chat room client should be able to run on any server Windows or Linux and have the ability to communicate to any databases MS SQL or MySQL, IIS or Apachi, the platform should not matter.
