booking/deliveries. Current problem: 1. Currently there are Several stores in the company. 2. There are approximately 4 different warehouses that deliver stock to these stores. 3. All stores have a different receiving capacity (ie, 1 store can only receive 15 pallets of stock per day due to their staff resourcing where another store can receive 40 pallets per day as they are larger in size and have more space). 4. At current, stores cannot control how many deliveries are scheduled to come to them on any given day. As there are 4 different warehouses where stock is delivered from, it is a normal occurrence that more than 1 truck turns up at the same time and a lot of time is wasted. The other problem is that stores are forced to take more stock in that is safe, hence causing a safety hazard in their receiving areas. THE SOLUTION 1. A script to be designed that will allow the 4 warehouses to 'book' in delivery slots with the receiving sites. There should be several factors that the delivery schedule takes into account. 2. Firstly the stores will be surveyed and data collected so we can understand how many pallets of stock they can receive at a maximum on any given day. 3. This survey data is fed into the script. 4. Utilising this data, when the warehouse sends out a request for a booking, the script should first be seeing if the store can handle the workload and secondly it should also make sure that no 2 warehouse overlap for the day. The concept I guess sounds difficult but in reality its almost like a hotel reservation system however it is being used here to book in trucks so that stores are not overloaded with stock and so that trucks do not overlap.
