Client Info The client is a custom promotional products company that specializes in custom apparel. This client is going to have an e-commerce website that will allow the customers to purchase shirts, jackets, etc... with custom decorations (Embroidery and Silk Screen). Project Concept Visitors to the client's e-commerce website will have the ability to shop from their apparel database and have the ability to customize the product in realtime using either Macromedia Flash or Sun Java technology prior to actually placing an order. The customization tool will be called the "The Factory" for the moment. With The Factory, the user will be able to decorate using one of two styles. Either Embroidery (Thread) or Silk Screen (Screen Printing). Both decorations can not be used on a single product and the decoration type will be determined by the type of product. Project Requirements These requirementsswould be the same regardless of which technology (Flash or Java) is used. Microsoft SQL Database has already been created but can be modified per programmers specficiations. Design of the factory may or may not be included. The Factory has to be 100% database driven. All product images (Front, Back, Side), product data (Colors, Size, Price) will be pulled directly from the product database which is controlled by the client. The visitor will have the ability to choose a product for customization from the product database. Depending on the product, the visitor will have the ability to add different types of decorations to the Front, Back or Side of the product. One to three may be used at any time. i.e. A T-shirt could have a person's name on the front, website url on the side (sleeve) or a company logo on the back. While customizing the apparel three different types of decorations may be used. All three can be used on all three sides independent of each other or combined. Custom Artwork The visitor will have the ability to upload in real time any type of GIF, JPG or EPS to be used as decoration. The system needs to be able to post the file to the server, incorporate the artwork into The Factory and then have the ability to be customized by changing size, monochrome color or location on the product. Personalized Text The visitor will have the ability to select from a specific list of fonts and have the ability to type text onto the sides of the product as decoration. The user will also have the ability to change the Size, Color and Placement of this text. Name and Numbers The visitor will have the ability to add a special form of personalization to the apparel called Name and Numbers. A single font style will be used however the user will be able to adjust the color. The best example of this decoration would be softball jerseys. Each Jersey on the front and/or side is identical however the back displays different names and numbers. The Factory must have the ability for a users to provide a list of names and numbers. With all three types of decoration types The Factory must allow the user to select from predetermined colors as "Best Color Matches" The system must keep track of all the artwork, colors, placements, sizes, etc... The Factory needs to be able to capture all the visitors' final designs and save a image to the server.
