proxy lists. The proxy list will be used by an application like http://www.inetprivacy.com/a4proxy/index.htm This app allows one to surf the net anonymously, not just thru one proxy IP, but give the user the option of choosing from several hundred proxies (essentially a list in the app, and the user can choose one as they type in a url in their browser). It uses high anonymous public proxy servers. However, the list of proxies it comes with are mostly non-functional. There are anonymous proxy lists available on the internet, like www.myproxies.dl.am, but it's hit and miss. Most of them don't really work, and a lot of them only accept requests from a restricted range of IPs. What I need is advice/consultation on how to get good, reliable anonymous proxy lists. If it needs setting up our own proxy or other servers, that's fine. Looking at it from another angle - let's say you setup a webserver, and put 5000 virtual IPs on it (it's possible, the server will be slow, but if there is nothing else going on the server, it's possible. The server won't be used for actually serving up pages). Is there a way you can setup a browser on that server so that it can pick and choose from the IPs and send it as the source IP on the request packet? Get $20 Off Panda Internet Security 2008.
